Press Release - June 19, 2009

Nikki Mehrpoo Jacobson, a founding partner in the internationally recognized law firm of Jacobson & Han LLP, has been named as a Southern California "Super Lawyer Rising Star" in the area of Immigration Law by the publishers of Los Angeles Magazine and Law & Politics Magazine. The honor places her among the top 2.5% of attorneys in Southern California. Attorneys selected for this prestigious award have proven to posses exceptional legal abilities.

"It's truly an honor to be recognized for my work in Immigration Law," said Jacobson. "As an immigrant myself, I enjoy bringing the American dream to others. It brings an enormous amount of satisfaction. It's amazing that my peers like and respect my work and appreciate my vision enough to choose me for this well-respected award.

Ms. Jacobson shares this success with her law partner Susan S. Han. In fact, both of them personally recruit, train and mentor each associate attorney in the firm. Every case that comes to the firm is reviewed by at least three attorneys. "It's important to review and analyze cases in order to really find every possible immigration relief and criminal defense for each client," said Jacobson. "Teamwork is the reason the firm has such an outstanding success rate."

Each year, Los Angeles Magazine joins with Law and Politics to recognize outstanding attorneys, "Rising Stars" in the legal world. Rising Stars must be 40 years of age and under or have practiced law ten or fewer years. Southern California's top lawyers are asked to nominate the best up-and-coming lawyers that they have personally observed in action. Attorney-led research teams evaluate prospective candidates for indicators of peer recognition and professional achievement. Civic service and pro bono work are also considered.

Ms. Jacobson has successfully litigated immigration matters in Immigration Court and the U.S. Courts of Appeals. Ms. Jacobson has been recognized by Los Angeles Mayor Villaraigosa for her advocacy and dedication to Immigration Law. In addition to her immigration practice, she lectures to a variety of community based organizations, human resource groups, employers and schools on various immigration issues. Ms. Jacobson is also an Associate Professor of Law at West Los Angeles College.

Ms. Jacobson has been practicing law for over 11 years and has extensive experience in immigration law, including but not limited to employment-based and family-based immigration and deportation/removal defense. In fact, Ms. Jacobson has focused on Immigration Law since graduating from Pepperdine University School of Law in 1997. In 1999 she started her own firm and then joined forces with Susan S. Han in 2005. Jacobson & Han LLP currently has four offices in the Los Angeles area and has represented clients from all over the world.
